I chose my brother for the project as one of the most important people in my life. We fight a lot and I mean A LOT but we are extremely close. We have been through a lot together with my parents getting a divorce and a whole bunch of other stuff in between then in now. I would do anything for him and he knows that. We rely on each other even if we don't tell each other exactly whats happening we are still there and support each other. The pictures of my brother in the natural light I think especially show his all the sides of his personality. The picture of him sitting on the bench and his facial expression is exactly the face he makes when he gets mad. The picture of Andrew on his bike is a prop I really liked in his picture because we all used to ride bikes in our neighborhood that's how we would all get to each others houses and stuff. Also he's wearing shorts and that's important to his picture because he hates to wear long pants and shorts are his favorite thing to wear. I love the picture of Andrew smiling sitting on the steps. I think he looks really happy and that was a genuine smile and we were just goofing off while I was taking it and thats how it happened, and I'm really happy with how it came out. It captured a moment and you don't see that smile very often. The artificial picture really showed how he can be serious and I think the lighting just gives like an intelligent feeling and he is really smart. The existing light picture is Andrew wearing one of his favorite shirts. We get Hershey Park season passes so we are there quite often and he loves to be there the most. Also when my brother gets really excited he makes the expression and puts his arm up like that so I thought that was a good thing to incorporate into his picture. All of these pictures have a different side of Andrew and I'm just really happy I got to capture them all. I really liked this photography unit, and I learned a lot from it. I think the lighting is very very important to the picture and sets the feeling of the photo and also just the quality. I never really thought about lighting until this unit. I knew it was important but I did't think it was as important as it is and I'm really happy we did this unit so now I know.

ReplyDeleteThe personalities of your brother in these photos seem to be funny, happy and sometimes serious. The dark picture using rembrant, and the one of him crossing his arms are the two photos that gave me the idea of his personality being somewhat serious. Just because in the rembrant photo it’s dark and he has no emotion just a straight face, and in the second one he’s crossing his arm’s like “don’t mess with me” kind of emotion with a straight face. The other 3 photos create a happy and funny emotion, him smiling, on a bike, and a silly face in the first photo. Him on his bike concludes me to think that riding his bike is something he enjoys to do, something that makes him happy. You were most successful with photographing your subject in different angles, using different types and angles of lengths. Next time you should try different focal lengths like get more up close or zoom out further.
ReplyDeleteI know your model is your brother but I don’t really know him that well. In these pictures, he has this vibe that gives a fun feeling. He looks like he’s fun to be around. I noticed in a lot of the photos, he’s smiling. He seems like a good brother. My brother would never agree to let me make him my model. He smiles in a lot of these pictures and I think that is what gives me a good feeling when I look at these. Also I think because the pictures are black and white, it give them a really soft look. When I say soft, I mean like warm and friendly. I really thought you did well at including the composition unit to some of your pictures. I see you used leading lines in one of them. The only suggestion I would have is maybe have your model in a more clear focus. He was a little blurry at times.
ReplyDeleteLooking at these photos of what looks like Kacey’s brother, I see a young kid that looks like he’s always really happy. The visual clues that tell me this is in the first photo with existing light. Her brother isn’t just doing a stern straight staring at the camera, he’s moving his arms back and looks as though if he was moving during the photograph while it was being taken. Also he’s smiling in the one photo, making me think that maybe he has a bubbly personality. I think that the photographer is best at the composition of the photos. Using the bike as a prop seemed to capture what her brother likes to do in this free time, also the use of leadings lines made this photo more interesting to look at since it leads you to her brother on his bike. Also, I think that the lighting decisions in the photographs worked out really well in the end product. If I have any critiques for Kacey next time, her artificial photo seems to be a little overexposed. Maybe next time she can bring the light back a little further from her models face.
ReplyDeleteYour brother seams to be a very photogenic (funny, happy, serious, etc.) person. It leads me to think this because he has different poses in every photo and isn't always smiling in the pictures. You were really successful at changing the clothes of your model for your photographs to represent their identity. You also did a good job of using lights to make your brothers face have hard and soft lighting. For next time, maybe you could work on using more props. Nice photos!!
ReplyDeleteWhen first looking at Kacey’s photos of her brother, I noticed he is a fun, shy and seems to show lots of emotion. I want to believe that he shows those three things because of how the photos were taken and how he poses. The light in the photos showed me that he is a cheerful and fun person. He is smiling in almost all of the photos, which shows me that he’s fun, but in the photo of him on the bench shows that he is serious. Which is completely fine, because he’s simply just human and experiences all emotions. I said he was shy because of the way he isn’t looking at the camera when he is on his bike. Kacey was successful in multiple aspects. She did a very good job on the lighting and making all the photos have a mood. Then she also had good composition with leading lines in the bike shot. My all time favorite photo was the remberant one. It captures your attention because it is so different then all the other ones on her post. The picture is really well taken and it stands out. I can’t find words to describe it, I just really like it. I would suggest having some more composition, but bedsides that all the photos are nice!
